YEMA JEONG
My journey into yoga began in 2007, when I started practicing to address injuries and concerns about my body while pursuing ballet as a major in University. Through yoga, I found a deeper sense of inner peace and a profound understanding of my body. This sparked a deep curiosity about yoga, eventually leading me to pursue teacher training.
I’ve trained in various styles, including Vinyasa, Hatha, Power Yoga, Heart Vinyasa, and Therapy Yoga. In 2012, I started diving deeper into Ashtanga Yoga. That year, I had the privilege of studying in Mysore, India, under the late Sharath Jois. I also attended an Ashtanga teacher workshop with David Swenson in 2013 and with Richard & Mary Freeman in 2022. My teaching experience and my training have shaped the way I teach and practice today, continuing in the traditional Ashtanga method.
I’ve also explored meditation extensively. My studies at the OWA Meditation Center in Bangalore, India, deepened my understanding of mindfulness and meditation practices. At the Vipassana Meditation Center, I learned to view life with humility and a broader perspective. I continue to learn and grow, attending various yoga conferences and connecting with renowned teachers in the U.S. to expand my knowledge and practice.
